Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer

2011 Highlights

  • Every participant receives a custom-molded Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer medal, and will have an opportunity to have them personalized with custom engraving
  • The route is the same as in previous years – a fairly flat, comfortable 5k walk or run – from the waterfront to Shore Drive, turn around at Hatchery Lane, return to the waterfront around the marina to the opposite pier, return to bandstand for finish

  • Milestone Markers return again this year – signs along the route, sponsored by individuals or businesses, marking milestones in the event as well as in cancer research funding and awareness
  • All registrants included in draw for prizes after the walk/run

  • The names of the top male and top female finishers are plate-engraved and added to the “G.D. St-Amand Memorial Trophy” – which will be displayed in Bedford’s new 4-Pad arena
  • T-shirts will be available for purchase in limited quantities this year

  • This year will feature activities for kids, including face-painting and tattoos
  • A local mucisian will take the stage to entertain competitors and spectators

  • This year the goal is to reach 400 registered participants and hopefully reach a total donation for the Canadian Cancer Society of $8000
