Another year, another milestone reached, and our sights are set on 2012 for the fifth annual Bedford 5k.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in this morning's Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer. Your efforts, your energy and your sweat for the cause is truly inspirational.
Huge thanks to the small army of volunteers that made the event possible. Your good humor under pressure was noticed and appreciated. It seems everyone had a great time and it's in no small part due to your efforts that everything seems to have run quite smoothly this morning.
To the generous sponsors of the event, donating time, energy and the all important dollar - thank you so much for your support.
Congratulations to the 2011 winners of the G.D. St-Amand Memorial Trophy - our male finisher Solomon Tsewameskel with a time of 16:58 (better cool those heels) and our female finisher Sarah MacDonald with a time of 21:27. Their names will be added to the G.D. St-Amand Memorial Trophy along with our past winners and the trophy will soon find its home in BMO Centre on Hammonds Plains.
We're still totalling the funds raised for the Canadian Cancer Society and we will make an announcement about our final total to this site and to our Facebook fan page when we have it in the coming days. And speaking of our Facebook Fan page - become a fan of the Bedford 5k by visiting our page and "liking" us and you could win a prize. We'll do a draw on August 1st of all the fans we have on the page on that day and one lucky winner will get a Bedford 5k T-shirt and a free registration in next year's walk/run.
If you had a good time today - tell everyone about it, please. We'd like to have a huge turnout for next year so the more people you can tell about what a great time you had the easier that will be for us to achieve. If you had a rough go of it today, please just tell me. We're aiming to improve with each year, and while we think we've succeeded in doing just that, we know there are areas we can continue to improve. If you have suggestions, please email me at info@bedford5k.com.
And at last... the results.
We had only two bib number glitches this year wherein the bib number was not captured next to a name - so if your bib number was #172 or #65, email me at info@bedford5k.com and let me know so we can correct it on our results sheet. Please note that we've picked up on the fact that we have some first names in the last name column and vice versa - but your names should still be correctly aligned with your bib numbers and your times.
Once again, thanks everyone. We'll see you next year!
