A fast, flat 5k along Bedford’s beautiful waterfront

The Bedford 5k to Beat Lung Cancer boasts a wonderfully picturesque route - out and back for the first half, and a loop in Dewolf Park and the surrounding boardwalk for the second half. Most of the route is quite flat, with some small rolling hills in two spots. It's not hard to imagine reaching a personal best along this route, particularly on a day without a breeze off the water. There are washrooms near the start line, as well as an emergency station on site. There is also entertainment and a water station at the finish.

The 500m kids "sprint" route is a loop of the main area of DeWolf Park, crossing the same finish lines as the adults. We always start and finish the kids before the 5k route begins so there are plenty of spectators on hand to cheer on the kids as they run their route.
